Ever wondered how to order a commission?

I get asked this pretty regularly. . . so I thought it’s time I put together a spiel about how this commish bizo works!

1.

Head on over to my Originals page and have a good look at recent colours, shapes, sizes and prices. This will help you work out styles you like and what it will roughly cost. Price is loosely based on size and complexity.

2.

Secondly send me an email with the size painting you’re after and a short ‘brief’ which includes info about which paintings and colours you like, any colours you don’t like and so on. If you decide to go ahead with your commission I’ll get you to send me heaps more details later.

I’ll reply to your email with a quote and timeframe. This time frame will include when to expect your concepts, and also when your actual painting will be scheduled to begin. Please understand that your painting may not be scheduled for some months depending on prior commitments. The start date of your piece will be part of my quote, and part of our agreement. As a rough timeframe I require one week for concepts, two to four weeks to paint, and two weeks to frame once the finished painting is collected from my studio by my framers.

4.

If you’re happy with the quote and time frame I require a 30% non-refundable deposit to book you into my schedule and secure your spot to begin working together. The balance of your commission is paid once the actual painting is complete and prior to delivery.

5.

Upon payment of the deposit you are added to the painting schedule and your place is locked in!! Woohoo!! I order your canvas and frame at this time and will commence working on concepts for you in line with your brief at the agreed time in my schedule.

6.

At the concept stage I get to play with your ideas and bring them to life with lots of experimenting. Once I decide on a direction, I whittle my ideas down and present 3 final painting concepts to you in a digital format. These digital painting mockups are very close to what your final piece will be so there’s no surprises. Once you choose your painting concept from these 3 finals we can tweak it a little if necessary to get it just right for you.

7.

I start painting according to our agreed schedule!

8.

Once the painting is complete and the balance of your invoice is paid, your painting is packed and couriered to you. Voila! So exciting!!!

Note: I do a small limited edition print run of almost ALL my paintings. This enables me to keep the prices of my original artworks reasonably affordable and support my little painting business! If you’re interested in chatting commissions click here to contact me!!!

Neon Kiss

A tropicalvibe was right up there on my clients inspo list, along with some palm tree action sprinkled with a neon kiss.

Springtime

This minty fresh commission was inspired by my clients garden, full of green foliage and colour pops.

Danger Hydrangea

Always so exciting to see a commission in the space it was created for. Thanks to Greenhouse Interiors for introducing Darren James Interiors in Brisbane to my work which I completed for one of their clients.

Leopard Rocks

Leopard Rocks was commissioned by the Wylie family. They were kind enough to let me go a little jungle crazy in my interpretation of Wylie’s Baths which feature the whole family including mum, dad, kids, grandma & even the x 2 puppies. Thanks so much for letting my get creative on this piece!

Good Things Happen Just Because

This was commissioned by a landscape designer who is passionate about Australian native plant life - hence the Banksia foliage.⠀I took the pictures of the Banskia leaves I used as reference at our local beachside park when I was there hanging with the family and even though I’m not the best photographer, the pics were so lovely! Just this absolute leafy clarity silhouetted against the sky. And I feel really buoyed looking at the colours in the artwork - for no apparent reason really! Hence the name :) Hope you like her too?⠀
Thankyou Clare and Mikah :) for commissioning me and supporting my art! You're ace!

It’s Always Summer Somewhere

This commission was for a newly married couple in Sydney. The beautiful bride wanted a surprise pressie for her new hubby featuring their favourite spot in Coogee. The baths were photographed by my lovely friend Michelle who kindly let me use as her images as a reference . . . and that's where this gorgeously summerie painting began. I'm so happy with it!
